Long ago our food was only supplied by farmers. Today, it is mainly produced, processed and sold by large companies. These companies are increasingly interested in selling food that looks colorful and lasts long.

Additives are authorized at the EU level for all members.

The safety testing of each additive before it is approved, in most cases, is the responsibility of the food manufacturer. Testing is done only on each additive and not combinations of additives. Generally, we consume more then one additive at one time.

Although regulations are strict, we can never be sure that tomorrow an additive might be outlawed. The consequences of changing the natural substance of our foods has proven to sometimes have a negative effect on our health and environment.

More and more our fruits, vegetables, meats, sweets and drinks are being altered. It is our personal duty to continually stay informed of what we are feeding ourselves and our family.
